Aptos engineer – first 24 hours blockchain performance indicates chain “isn’t even breaking a sweat”

Following the recent launch of the Aptos Blockchain, there has been a lot said of the nose dive performed by the native APTOS token. The token fell to a low of $6.75 from a high of $13.73, according to CoinGecko data. However, the founding engineer of Aptos, Josh Lind, also gave his thoughts on the chain’s overall performance in its first 24 hours.

Aptos launch statistics

Lind presented a multi-thread breakdown of statistics related to the first 24 hours of the Aptos Blockchain. The data presented indicated that “the blockchain is running smoothly. The system isn’t even breaking a sweat,” according to Lind.

Other key highlights included:

There were 2.5 million transactionsOver 570,000 daily active usersTransaction finality was 0.9 seconds102 validators, 140 full validator nodes, and 2,000+ full public nodes

Lind summarized his analysis by stating that he is “looking forward to more application and user traffic” as the network “components are showing signs of stress.”

9/ Building fast, scalable, safe and decentralized systems is hard. Really hard. While @AptosFoundation has a long journey ahead (just like Web3), it’s amazing to see the blockchain provide low-latency and high-throughput. We’re excited for more users to take advantage of Aptos.

PancakeSwap to deploy on Aptos

The performance of the network has not gone unnoticed by other blockchain projects. PancakeSwap, the leading DEX on the Binance BNB Chain, has issued a proposal to launch its DEX tools on Aptos. The proposed update would allow CAKE to be deployed natively to the Aptos Blockchain by utilizing bridges to enable CAKE holders “participate on both chains.”

As of October 22, the vote is 97.62% in favor of the proposal with less than 24 hours remaining. The first multi-chain proposal for PancakeSwap is, therefore, likely to pass over the weekend. Accepting the bid will allow the PancakeSwap team to begin deploying on  Aptos and opening up swaps on the new chain.
